Spoken English : Present Indefinite Tense and It’s rules

Here i am going to tell you rules and recognition by using two languages hindi and punjabi . If you are preparing for any Government examination then this is right article for you . 

What if Present Indefinite ?

As we have already discussed in last article that tense is form of verb which tells about time , so present indefinite tense is that form verb which show that working is going on but time is not sure or in other language we can say that something happens but not in definite time .

For example – I bath daily .( But exact  time is not sure  )  

Recognition of Present Indefinite Tense

If you want to learn translation then first of all you have to recognize present tense in your local language .if you speaks punjabi then learn to recognize in punjabi or if you speaks hindi then first learn recognize it in Hindi .Lets start to recognize it as below given .

Recognition in Punjabi Language

ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ  , ਦਾ ਹੈ , ਦੀ ਹੈ , ਦੇ ਹਨ ਆਵੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। 

 

Example – ਸੀਤਾ ਗਾਨਾ  ਗਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ( ਇਸ ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚਦੀ ਹੈ ‘ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ )

ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀ ਖਾਣਾ ਪਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ( ਇਸ ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇ ਹਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ )

ਰਾਮ ਸਕੂਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।  ( ਇਸ ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। )

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਧ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦਾ ਹੈ , ਦੀ ਹੈ , ਦੇ ਹਨ ਆਵੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

English Translation rules for Present Indefinite

We will discuss english rules for translation for Simple Sentence , Negative Sentence and Interrogative Sentence as given below –

Simple Sentence

Subject + Verb(1st) + s or es + Object  

Negative Sentence

Subject + do/does + not + Verb (1st) + Object

Interrogative Sentence

do/does + Subject + Verb (1st) + Object + ?

When we can place do or does ?
  1. When subject is singular like He , She , It , any name then we can place does in negative or interrogative sentence .
  2. When Subject is plural like I , We , You ,they then we can place do in negative or interrogative sentence .
When we can place " s or es " with 1st form of verb ?
  1. First Condition :- When Subject is singular then case of ‘s or es ‘ with first form will be applicable .For example –  He eats food .(Here he is singular then we place ‘s’ with verb eat .But here a questions arises  that when we can place ‘s’ or when we can place ‘es’ for it you can follow second condition .
  2. Second Condition – When verb is ending with any vowel ( a , I , o , u , e ) then we can place ‘es’ with 1st form of verb otherwise we will place only ‘s’ with form of verb.
For Example :-  She  goes to school. (Here verb go is ending with vowel ‘o’ that is why we placed ‘es’ with 1st form of verb .
